Ready Painter Pedarastic Courtship Hydria (ca. 530 BC, found 1861) Attic-black hyrdria, pottery. (32.3 x 24 cm) The Louvre, Paris, France.
I’ve been really interested in hydrias since I saw several at the British Museum and their marrying of art, functionality, and narrative. Used as a formal jug, this one, from the Louvre depicts the courtship of one handsome Greek man by several potential male suitors.
